And her eyes; two shimmering deep blue orbs graced with fawn-like lashes. Where his grandmother always smelled of must, moth balls and stale cigarette smoke, Tina always smelled of coconut oil, vanilla and sweet peaches. Where his grandmother was so stern, Tina was so tender. And she had an infectious laugh. One that can just melt your heart and capture your soul when you hear it. For as he sat in the front pew of the church and watched as his father and Tina exchanged wedding vows, Nick knew that he loved Tina more than life itself. That he loved her in a way no one else ever could or would. And to watch her marry his father literally broke his heart! Despite the fact that she was seventeen years his senior and now his stepmother, Nick knew that Tina was his soulmate. The three of them settled down into a quaint and cozy little three bedroom home in Van Nuys, California after Dean and Tina enjoyed a brief honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. Then less than six months later, Lt. Colonel Dean Garrett was killed in a helicopter crash while on military exercise maneuvers. And just like that, Nick and Tina suddenly found that they had nobody left in the world but each other for neither of them had any living relatives. They were both alone. In accordance with Dean’s will, everything passed to Tina; including Nick. The two of them remained in the house in Van Nuys and Tina had obtained an administrative job with Universal Studios in Hollywood; one that would later become a junior executive position.
