want to go on? Tuesday Melody's was dead. Wednesday rolled around. I wore a faded Dallas Cowboys T-shirt and cut-off jean shorts to dinner. Heather served potato salad and some bean dish. The dogs sat by my feet, hoping I'd drop something. I didn't. Heather and Evan talked a lot about current events and politics, and I mostly listened. I don't know anything about that stuff. It was interesting though. We went out on the porch afterwards. I expected the conversation to turn to sex. Nope. Maybe they were waiting for me to turn the conversation to sex. Hhhm. And then, pretty much exactly like last time, at just around 10:30 there seemed to be a natural lull. Oh well. I looked around. Definitely that lull feeling. I stood up. Maybe they were just trying to build, ah, rapport or something. Jeesh that could take, like, forever. &#034Ah, hey guys, when are we going to talk about sex?&#034 They laughed. &#034When you're ready,&#034 Evan said. &#034I'm ready.&#034 &#034No you're not.&#034 Heather tucked a stray hair behind my ear. &#034I'll be ready next time,&#034 I said. &#034Maybe,&#034 Evan said. They walked me home. Pecks on the cheek. Well this sucks. So much for candyland. Now that I started on this path, I wanted everything to happen right away. I wanted to learn what everybody made such a big fuss about, and I wanted to learn it now. Kiss me, teach me, ravish me, damn it! Sigh. Saturday morning on my way into work I saw Evan walking Cuff and Link. He was eating an ice cream ...
pop. I stopped and rolled down my window to talk to him. &#034Isn't it a little early for ice cream?&#034 Of course this was a little hypocritical, or maybe a lot, coming from me, but he didn't know that. &#034It's not ice cream, it's frozen yogurt,&#034 Evan said. &#034Everyone knows that yogurt is a legitimate breakfast food.&#034 We smiled at each other and he shrugged. It was sort of weird, this absolute trust and comfort I had around Evan. If I thought of how sometimes you had a sixth sense about someone who gave you the creeps, it was like Evan had the absolute complete opposite effect. A sixth sense that gave me the 'okays'. He offered me a bit of his frozen yogurt popsicle, but I was worried that leaning over I might drip or spill it and get some on my dress, so I just shook my head. &#034I can't stay and talk,&#034 I said. &#034I'm on my way to work.&#034 &#034Off to the den of iniquity?&#034 I never understood that phrase. &#034Off to the den of something,&#034 I said. He laughed, and I gave two quick toots of my horn. I closed my window and sped off. That was a nice treat. I didn't see Evan again until Monday. Monday Jean-Luc arrived before Evan. He hitched one hip up and sat on the corner of my desk. &#034Hi, Marcy,&#034 he said and smiled a friendly smile. He had a nice smile. The button-down, light-blue dress shirt had a fancy cut that showed off his broad chest and shoulders. He had Hollywood movie star good looks and looked like he knew it. &#034Hey,&#034 I ...
