    Deanna’s child; hence by law, she took her last name. So, on that beautiful Christmas Eve, Deanna gave me a gorgeous diamond ring and simply said: “Don’t you think it’s time that we all have the same last name?” Even though Michigan still has a ban on same-sex marriage, it is legal in thirty-six other states and it will honor a marriage license issued by a state where it is legal. I also have complete confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon make same sex marriage legal by Federal Law. Of course some of the truly conservative, good Christian states will do what they’ve done with Abortion and try to “restrict it”; you know because gays, lesbians and transgender people are such a tremendous threat to the American family and we’re rotting the wholesome American fiber and bending the moral compass of America. Fuck you, you hypocritical and bigoted assholes! Read the Constitution and your fucking bibles more closely and discover what they really say! You might also want to peruse the Declaration of Independence where it says something to the effect of: “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all [men] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are LIFE, LIBERTY and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS!!” Sorry.     married on Valentine’s Day. It’s my absolute favorite holiday!! It has been since I was little and it’s always been the day I wanted my wedding to be on. Deanna on the other hand, despises Valentine’s Day, but she agreed nonetheless because it meant so much to me. And for the location, she chose San Francisco. So on Thursday, February 12 of 2015, we flew out there. As much as we wanted to bring her, Deanna and I felt that it would be best if Emily stayed with our neighbors; an absolutely wonderful couple in their early 70s named Tom and Helen Dixon. They more or less adopted Deanna from the day she moved in next door to them and have literally become like surrogate parents to her; and now to me. And they adore Emily as if she were their own grandchild. Mom flew out with us; as did Aunt Lucy, Eric and Chelsea. Deanna had also arranged for Grandma and Aunt Rosie to fly out from Savannah as well. Oddly, Jeff did not come; claiming that they both couldn’t be away from the store at the same time, especially over Valentine’s weekend. Of course Stephanie had to come because she would serve as my Maid of Honor and Laura and Pam as well. The airline was wonderful in helping us get everybody out there, but as part of the tremendously discounted arrangement - Deanna, Pam and Laura all had to work the flight.
