    the seat with a smile on her lips. She sensed his gaze and turned towards him. The look of love, almost adoration, in her eyes set any doubts he might have at rest. He heard Christine give a little giggle and he shot here a warning glance. She went into the house and headed for the stairs, yelling to her mother that she was going to take a shower.     had to set the table and warm up the Chinese takeout that she’d selected. Jake took over the setting of the dinner table. He’d read somewhere, a long time ago, that families that ate together were stronger. Although they still did eat together, Sheila usually spent much of the meal looking at her phone or reading a report and making exasperated noises under her breath. This evening wasn’t going to be any different as she’d already put a pile of papers next to her place. With the food microwaved Sheila yelled up the stairs for her daughter to hurry up; that she’d been long enough in the shower. Jake had spent the time since Christine disappeared upstairs imagining her naked in the shower, with the warm water caressing her young body.
