This should fall under the "romance" category, but there isn't one. The following is fiction The continued adventures of two old friends; It had been a few years since that night they’d spent together. They had talked about it and their relationship at great lengths. They wanted to be together but as usual the timing just wasn’t right. They stayed in touch, having some kind of contact almost every day. He tried his best to keep discussions to just the kind of things friends would talk about. He did slip every so often and say something he probably shouldn’t. After more than 25 years he had left his wife. He just couldn’t take the mental abuse anymore. Although his wife didn’t see it as that, always saying “I was just k**ding.” But how much being laughed at could a man take? He would like to learn to dance. But knew she’d laugh at him. Use a blow dryer after a shower, but that was ridiculous with his thinning hair. The pain of failed relationships had taken their emotional toll and she was weary. Just taking care of and worrying about herself for the most part. She dated a little. But nothing really came of it. She’d never admit it, but it was true that men of all walks of life were attracted to her. She could charm anyone. And charmed they were, from farmers to executives, young and old and all in between. She was middle aged now and like the proverbial fine wine, just getting better. It had been a few months since his divorce had been final. There had been no “divorce” party. He didn’t even tell anyone but a handful of people about it for a few weeks. Keeping to himself and actually drinking a little less than before. He continued trying to sort out his life, still asking himself the same question that he’d been asking at least once a day for years “what am I going to do?” Feeling better ...
