When we're this close in bed, arms and legs as loving tangled knots, I wish you could breathe in all I am, a singular exhale of air to embrace with the ferocity of curious lungs. Then you would know everything that forms me, memory upon memory before you became the axis and gravity gently holding my world, you would know where to place every kiss on the spaces scarred inside and out. You would know that when I hide, it's because of the lingering echoes that became a part of my own voice, coursing through and telling me I may never be enough for you. You would be able to listen closely to the thundering inside of my chest, you would see beyond cold shores and cloud banks and understand the storms raging, the calculating sweep shredding lonely harbors. When we're this close in bed, sleeping as loving tangled knots, I wish you could breathe in all that I am, a singular exhale your lungs could embrace with the same ferocity I've held your heart with. Then you would know everything that shapes me, the blood and breath carrying memory upon memory that are the trails made to wherever you will be, the axis and gravity you've become to make me remember the scars your lips can kiss away. You know I will stop hiding and clinging to the echoes trying to overtake my voice, that your love courses through to sing I am more than enough for you. I will listen closely to the thunder booming inside of your chest and soothe the storms looming behind cloud banks, shaking your every lonely shore, my hand will enfold yours and I will stay with you no matter what violence sweeps through these harbors. We will breathe in one another and make memory upon memory together with the ferocity of an embrace that no echo or storm can ever break.
