Cate and Jaymee stopped at a street corner and waited for the crosswalk. They watched as traffic rolled by until the light changed. "Over there," Cate said and pointed across the street. The light changed and the two started making their way across the busy street. Cars stopped on both sides of the road illuminated their walk across. Jaymee felt a rush of excitement while he thought about the people sitting in their cars. Their headlights were too bright so he couldn’t see who or how many people there were. He wondered if they liked what they saw. "Here we go," Cate turned to say to Jaymee after they had finished crossing. Cate pointed to a large black door with one doorman. Above the door there was a simple sign with the name "Play" in neon white. "Have you been here before?" Jaymee asked. "Yes, once actually," Cate continued, "I think you'll like it, c'mon," and she made her way to the doorman. With one foot through the door, Cate stopped when she realized Jaymee wasn’t behind her. "C'mon!" She cried out with a smile as she waved Jaymee over. And Jaymee proceeded to head for the doorman who was waiting with the boundary up for him.     Jaymee and they locked eyes. Both sensed the excitement of entering the crowded space. Through the curtain revealed a large room with brick walls. It was dark except for the white-hot lights hanging from the ceiling. The room was divided by three columns, then broken up into private sitting areas with different sized red velvet couches. Some areas were completely closed off with heavy red curtains. Cate took Jaymee’s hand and they walked down the first laneway to make their way towards the main bar. Jaymee took his time to people watch. In one section, a group of women surrounded a younger well-dressed man. Then, he saw two other women making out on the couch and three men sitting very close to talk intimately with one another; two of those men were rubbing the middle guy’s leg. Jaymee’s eyes then took him across the room and he noticed one of the covered sitting areas, there was an open gap in the curtain. He squinted to look through the gap but it was too dark to see in. He watched as a petite Asian woman with long black hair entered through the curtain. She turned back to close it behind her and caught Jaymee’s eye across the room. She smiled at him with extreme confidence and then shut the curtain behind her. Cate had made her way to the bar and had ordered them both a drink and a shot.
