My husband recently hired a handyman out of Craigslist to do some much needed repairs around the house. This guy was an all-around kind of handyman who was good with his hands in more ways than one, but I will get around to that soon enough. His name was Phil, a tall, middle-aged guy with handsomely rugged appearance and a cool personality. He came by the first morning right after my husband left for work. When Jack hired Phil, he gave him all the details of what he wanted done to the house, starting with removing the overhead lighting in the kitchen and replacing those old fixtures with new LED’s. I tried staying out of his way for the most part, but every once in a while I’d find myself in the same room with him. After all, I did find him nice to look at and to talk to as well. Since I have a nice feminine figure and keep myself in shape I had a feeling he liked the way I looked too. At least his eyes seemed to tell me so, and I was comfortable with that. After all, men will be men, and my wedding ring never stopped them from looking. Besides, I wasn’t dressed in anything I would consider sexy, just a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt that I usually wore around the house. Shortly after Phil started working on the kitchen lights I asked him if he’d like a cup of coffee. “I make the best coffee in town,” I told him as a way of kidding. “Well, I’ll have to try that out then,” he said as he stepped his way down the ladder. I poured the both of us a cup. “Coffee, cream?” I asked ...
as I handed a full mug to him. “Neither. I like my strong and black,” he lightly informed me. “I like mine that way too,” I said and we took a few minutes sitting at the kitchen table getting a little better acquainted as we drank. “How long have you been married?” he asked. “Seven years in July,” I replied. “Are you married?” “No. I was at one time, but things went south.” “Oh, sorry to hear that,” I said, showing a bit of a sad look. “Hey, it worked out for the best. I like being a free man now that I’m single.” “Good for you, Phil. I guess you date a lot of women.” “Why would you say that?” he asked. “Well, uh, you are a good looking guy,” I admitted blushingly. “Ha ha… glad you think so. You’re not so bad yourself, kitten.” “Woo! I think you need to get back to work, mister!” I laughed and took his empty mug from him, then disappeared into my bedroom. I stayed in there for a while because that short burst of flirting had me feeling a bit too warm in places that I shouldn’t be. When I walked back into the kitchen a little while later, Phil told me that he discovered some bad wiring leading to the fixtures and that he had to go up into the attic to replace it. He spent a couple of hours up there and when he came down from the attic he was covered with insulation dust from head to foot. It was in his hair and in his clothes and it was itching him all over. “Oh, look at you,” I said to him. “You can’t work with that stuff clinging to you like that. Do you have an extra change ...
