I nodded my head dumbly, unwilling to say anything that could get me into her bad books any more than I already was. I raised my hands in mock surrender and said she shouldn't kill the messenger for being the bearer of bad news. Despite her anger, a wry smile appeared and she cooled down a little. "Sorry, Honey. It's not your fault, I know... but unfortunately for you, you're the only one here, and I needed to unload my anger on someone. "I guess I'm lucky you didn't spank me then, you know, being as you're so angry." My attempt at making a joke fell flat because she just stared at me long and hard. Suddenly her eyes sparkled with mirth. "I suspect you'd like that too much," she said sarcastically. "There are worse things I could think of, you know to pass the time," I retorted light heartedly. The raised eyebrow and sardonic look she gave me, could have filled a book but before I could continue flirting, the facade of a professional business woman returned.
