Sort of a ska, rockabilly, blues kind of mix.” The clerk could see the unsure look on Haden's face. “I just mention it because you said you were new in town. Anyway, I'll be there, so if you come, say hi, okay?” Haden smiled again, feeling good that someone was reaching out to her in a friendly way. She stuffed the flier into one of her bags and thanked Jules again for all of her help. As she drove home, she thought about the interactions she'd had since she'd moved to the Crescent City. While the boys who'd cat called her in the Quarter were obnoxious and the pool guy next door was a jerk and the old bag lady had unnerved her, everyone else in the city had been so friendly and accommodating. She began to believe that making friends here might be easier than it had been in Connecticut. Haden s**ttered her new clothes out on the bed and began to try them on. There was a cute white thong, a black pencil skirt that had little strawberries printed up the sides, a teal halter top, a black and blue bra that had intricate lace patterns all over it. She'd gotten a little bit of everything and with Jules' help, she knew that much of it went together. All in all she had three complete new outfits.     hear him saying, “They just don't look like something you'd wear.” He'd have a slightly uncomfortable face and then he wouldn't bring it up again. He wouldn't tell her not to wear them or make any mean comments, but he'd never compliment them and never ask her to wear them for him. The other thing she noticed was that when she was dressed in the outfits, she actually felt different inside. Sexier. She'd often felt pretty in certain outfits and when she wear certain Victoria's Secret items in bed she would feel sexy. But this was different. These were clothes meant to be worn in public. As she walked around her bedroom in one new outfit, she found her hips swaying more than usual in them. It made her giggle. Being in public and feeling sexy at the same time was something that Haden didn't think was for her. But maybe it was okay to feel sexy outside of your bedroom. Maybe that was something she could try out, like a costume. That night, over a dinner of baked salmon and asparagus, Haden told Andrew that she'd spent the day doing some shopping. “I bought a few new things.” “Oh, good,” he said with a genuine smile, but without any follow up questions. “Also, Penny's boys are coming over now to use our pool during the day while theirs is under construction.” “That was really sweet of you to offer hon.
