1. A Granddaughter's love

    When it it all started, was all most a year after my wife had died, which at the time of her death, my step-granddaughter was s*******n and just short of graduating high school, which she turned eighteen one week after graduation, then about one month after that she came to live with me, to go to the collage that was just a few short blocks away from my house. Thursday morning when the phone rang I answered it, &#034Hello.&#034 &#034Hi grandpa.&#034 &#034Well hi there Pumpkin. How are you doing now that your out of school?&#034 &#034I'm doing okay. You know that you can ask me anything that you want to know.&#034 &#034I was wandering if I could come and live with you, while I go to the collage there by you, so that I can keep you company when I'm not in class', since grandma isn't here any more, to keep you company?&#034 &#034I would love that, as long as your folks don't mind it.&#034 &#034They don't mind. Did you think we didn't want to keep in touch with you, now that mom is dead?&#034 &#034Well, I really wasn't sure since your mom and I was just married, what eight years. It seems that most k**s want nothing to do with a step-dad or step-mom, or even step-grandparents, after a death like that.&#034 &#034To all of us, you are not a step to us, you are my dad, which I never could call my real dad a dad, since he wouldn't have anything to do with us even before him and mom divorced. I tell everyone you are my dad, and Samantha here, tells everyone you are her grandpa, not her step. The step has been erased from our vocabulary.
