"Ali!" I screamed into my phone. The voice on the other end groaned. But it was much deeper than my friend Ali's. "What the fuck? Do you have to yell?" The person asked. As I said, the voice was deep, so I concluded it was a guy who was speaking. I pulled my phone away and looked at the caller ID incredulously. The fuck? It said Ali. "Uh, where's Ali?" I asked. "This isn't Ali." He said, then added "obviously," as an afterthought. "I found Ali's phone in class." I gasped. "Did you steal it?" "Of course not." He scoffed. "I'm gonna give it back to her tomorrow." "Oh." I mumbled. "You have a class with her? Which one?" He sighed, probably due to the questions I was asking. "Yeah, physics." "Hey! I have physics with her too!" I said excitedly. "Haha, who is this?" He sighed again. Jeez. What an ass hat. "It's Nathan." He huffed into the phone. "Nathan?.." I repeated. "Oh.." I immediately calmed down. Well, you see guys.. Nathan and I aren't friends. I wouldn't even consider him my acquaintance. We've spoken, at the most, four times to each other. And he's just not the kind of people I associate with. To put it simply: he's a popular jock, and I'm just.. there. "Zylen, you there?" He asked. "How'd you know it was me?" I asked absentmindedly. "... Caller ID." Why am I so dumb? "Right. Anyway, I'll see ya tomorrow. Don't forget to bring Ali's phone." I hung up hastily before he could even respond. "I'm so smooth." Even my inside voice dripped with sarcasm. I'm so lame is more ...
like it. :::::::::::::: "Zylen, chill out." Ali demanded. "You're being irrational." I fell a step behind her as we walked to our physics class. I had informed her of the phone conversation I had with Nathan in first period, but she thought I was just being overdramatic. Of course she would think that. It's not like she was concerned if Nathan liked her or not. I don't mean that I'm desperate for his acceptance, but... Okay, maybe I am. Sue me. I know I'm dumb. "He's not here yet." I informed Ali as I glanced around the class. I noticed her roll her eyes as we made our way to our seats. "Shut up." "I didn't say anything." She scoffed, the smiled sweetly. "Homework, please." It was my turn to roll my eyes. I began looking for the sheet, speaking as I did so. "You're seriously annoying." I muttered. "Can't you ever do anything yourself?" I asked as I fished it out of my binder and handed it to her. But when I looked up, my attention was drawn to the figure standing beside me. My eyes travelled up their body and rested on his face. "Zylen." He greeted. "Stop being a creep and sit down Logan." I ordered my friend playfully. He did just that and we immersed ourselves into a conversation until Logan walked over to our lab table. "Nathan!" Ali beamed. He smiled back at her and pulled out her phone from his pocket and handed it to her. "It's in pristine condition." I risked a glance at him and immediately tensed up because he was looking back at me. He looked away quickly and continued ...
