I've always wanted to know how to reach you, to forget each divide within us that is a dark ocean populated with dangerous new species, depths we may not know how to chart alone. I don't want to stay on the surface anymore, where rippling reflections are torn by tides colliding and forgetting how to merge, where waves pull us apart before a sound can leave our lips. I've been to blame all this time, this inarticulate nature of mine when it comes to holding you with the full sweep of my love, not just grazing your heart in shuttering glimpses. I'll find ways in time to fade into the right words and bring back their harvested essences in my touch, in my silence you may finally know all the places in me that tremble for you. When you reach the submerged parts of us, broken and built again without any light to guide unsteady hands, I always want you to stay, to only read the signals flowing beneath me. You've always wanted to reach me, carve your heart through this divide of the dark oceans we've been ...
submerged in, where light glitters along the waters but cannot make anything grow in the cold depths we helplessly float through. Things can still travel through the water, the simple thud of a heart beating can make me fathom how scared you've been, because I don't want to stay on the surface anymore. Where the tides know no difference between the sound of collisions and the frail whispers passing through our lips. I've been to blame all this time, this inarticulate nature of mine submerged in our own quiet loss, the afflictions old flames left burrowed deep in us before flaring out. Each one has been a violent undertow we've learned to survive together, and in time I'll learn to hold you with the full sweep of my love, not just the brief grazing of when my pulse beats against you with longing. You'll reach the harvested essence of all I am, the silences that have divided us for too long, you'll bring us back to the place inside where we tremble for the signals we send and flow through one another.
