The number she gives sends your eyebrows to the sky. She smiles, with sad pride. "I'm beautiful . " she says. You get your wallet out, take all the money you have in this world and leave it on the altar. Somehow it seems to make it a bit better. Or worse. You don't really know. She falls with exhaustion. You take her in your arms and carry her out of the chapel. "You can't just buy forgiveness you know. " " Why not? The Americans do it all the time." Tonight you fell in love with a whore. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's note: Hello, dear reader. This is my first story here, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Surprisingly, it is based on a true story, of which details shall remain unknown. It was written listening to "Sinnerman" by Nina Simone. You might want to read it doing the same. In any case, I will welcome any comment and/or suggestions. I am trying to improve my writing in English, so any help is appreciated.
