“How much do you want him to stay, Tam?” “Fuck you!” I hissed angrily. “You’re a bastard!” “Easy Tam, I’m not a bastard, at least I don’t have to be. Do this for me and Gary stays. Come on Tam, I’m not asking you to do anything you won’t enjoy. We’ll have a great time. I’ll make you come so hard you’ll beg me for more.” I snorted and turned away but Jake grabbed my chin and slammed me hard against the rough breezeblock wall. “Don’t you dismiss me Tam, don’t you dare! I thought we had something, I thought there was a connection between us but you don’t even like me, do you?” His actions knocked the wind out of me both figuratively and literally. I balked at the sudden violence, yet the look of hurt in his eyes made me feel I deserved it. “Tell something me Tam, why did you fuck me, huh? Did you think it was part of your job interview?” He let go of me and stood back, shaking. “Perhaps I should re-consider your employment instead of Gary’s.” What?! I hadn’t expected that and had no comeback. Hatred welled inside me obliterating pity. How dare he threaten me? I stared at him blankly, words sticking in my throat and failing to materialise. Jake backed away. Just as well. I hated him, and I hated that he was right. I’d had sex with him because I knew it would secure my employment. I had precious little experience of bar work and far more qualified candidates had arrived for the interview. I had to offer more. That, however, hadn’t been my sole motive. I’d wanted to fuck Jake. ...
I’d have fucked him whether he’d given me the job or not. I liked him, I fancied him, we had a connection from the get-go. I thoroughly enjoyed my night with Jake, but as with everyone else I fucked the sex was to be a one-off. I thought he knew that. I didn’t think it was a problem. We got on as friends, we worked well together and I’d proved myself to be excellent bar-tender. I thought that was enough. Evidently not. In his anger, Jake revealed the full extent of his lust for me as well as a side to his character I hadn’t known existed. Jealousy and aggression were not traits I’d previously associated with genial Jake. Seeing it for the first time scared me. I also felt responsible. I’d underestimated the strength of his feelings and deliberately lead him on. It had been a game to me. None of that, however, excused his behaviour and his threats were nothing short of blackmail. Jake had me over a barrel and he knew it. My dilemma was no longer about Gary; it was about me and my lifestyle. If Jake fired me I wouldn’t get another job in Cyprus. He’d use his influence to see to that. I’d run out of money before the summer was over and be forced to leave the country. “Ok, think logically,” I told myself. Although I behaved like a blond air-head most of the time, I wasn’t. I was a sensible person who could think my way out of difficult situations. I needed to look at my options rationally. Wiping my eyes, I took a deep breath and put on a brave face. Standing there blubbing wasn’t ...
