My Valentine's Day Life Sentence

The 14th day of February marks, The first anniversary of my life sentence, Which was the day our lives became whole. As you awoke that day, You leaned up and opened the wordless valentine, Set right on your stomach. The gorgeous clear diamond ring, Immediately caught your eyes, Only for tears to be shed. We both knew nothing needed to be said, For you to utter one word. I only stood a couple feet in front of you, Looking at your face, Even as you were naked, I let the ring say everything. You doused it with tears, For only twenty seconds, As you grasped what was being asked. You put it on your finger, Right before your head leaned up, But only for you to crash back down Onto the bed as I attacked you. Our lips came together, And didn't part for over an hour, As we both wrapped our arms around each other. "You are sentenced to life, With no possibility of parole," You declared, only a day later at our wedding. "I accept," I stated, Just before I slid the ring onto your ring finger. "And I'll never regret it," I announced, Just before our lips came together, For the time as husband and wife. Now on every Valentine's Day, Our first touch and our first glance in the morning, Reminds me that my life sentence, Is still best thing that ever happened to me.
