Navigating Layers

You can be inked on my skin, marked on my heart, tattoos and unseen etchings with our names, all our words said in the other's ear Like a secret that knew precisely where to tear open the other, whispers traveling along breezes I can feel you in, the currents coursing through this vessel. Whether I become transparent to you in time, or become like towering walls covered in dark paints and smoke to hide how fragile I can be, you've already lived inside me and know where to pierce the layers. Where to speak and let the echoes reverberate to shape all the widening fissures you wish, but even with all the keys to me you've been able to clutch so tightly, there are many places you'll never know how to navigate. I can be inked on many pages, marked on only one heart, tattoos and etchings with a name you could never read. All the words you said no longer tear with the same cold precision, whispers traveling along faint breezes but unable to stir the currents coursing through a vessel now unknown to you. Whether I become transparent to you in time, or become like towering dark fogs and whirlwinds covering how fragile I really am, you've already lived inside me and have seen all the layers you're ever going to see. And they will be echoes reverberating, shaping all the colliding and trembling oceans washing away the keys you've clutched so tightly to the places you never knew how to navigate.
