Now, in the winter of my life, I look back over our years together We have raised our children to adulthood We learned to communicate without words A glance, a smile, a wink and holding hands A soft touch on my shoulder or back Your lips on my warm cheek, or your fingers Brushing back a stray lock of my hair A quick pinch or pat on my derriere’ Our expectations and dreams changed Things we once thought so important Had moved to the bottom of our list I didn’t love you the same way as I Did on our wedding day I loved you more with mature, undeniable passion We have given each other the gift of remembering How deep and loving our relationship had grown Leaving us just as we started, the two of us alone together Memories of making love, basking in the sweet afterglow Taking long romantic walks in the moonlight Holding hands, stealing kisses and touches As I sit alone at the kitchen table sipping my now cold coffee These are the memories of us that I keep Buried deep in the center of my heart and mind Now in the winter of my life
