1. Babysitting b*****r's Daughters

    My older b*****r called and said he needed a big favor. His company was sending him on a business trip overseas and he will be gone for the next couple of months. He could take his daughters with him but Cat, short for Cathy, will be graduating from high school in a month and she didn’t want to leave and miss it. Mel, short for Melody, is a star pitcher for the school’s softball team and they stand a good chance of going to the playoffs and she doesn’t want to miss our either. He wanted to know if I could stay at the house with the girls so they could finish the school year. Then depending on how his job was going, they could join him in Austria or I could continue to watch them for him. He wasn’t sure how long he would be gone as he is spearheading a major project and it could take as little as a month or two or as many as 5-6 months. He said that since I work from home and he has high speed internet, it should be no problem. He’ll pay me well for my troubles as he knows the girls can be a handful at times. Ralph is 18 years older than I am and has been like a father to me since our parents died when I was young. I owed him a great deal so I didn’t hesitate to say yes and we made plans for me to temporarily move in over the next weekend. He lives 2 hours away, so I closed up my small house and had all my mail forwarded to his house and made the trip over.     and I always enjoy seeing them. Being only 4 years older than Cat and 5 years older than Mel put us on nearly equal terms so we always got along well. We liked most of the same music, movies and styles of clothes. I was more like an older b*****r to them than their uncle. Ralph showed me around and told me what to do with his mail and what bills to pay when and what account to use. He told me that the girls were excited when they heard I would staying with them and then told me not to spoil them or let them get away with murder. He reminded them that there were still rules to follow, times to be home at night and no dating on school nights. The next morning, I drove Ralph to the airport. He hugged the girls goodbye and said he would Skype them tonight to let them know he was okay. Then I dropped the girls off at school and headed back to Ralph’s house. He had a nice house and told me to use his master bedroom which also had an adjoining office where I could work. I logged in and before I knew it the day had nearly passed by. I heard the front door open and Cat calling out to see if I was home. I was in the middle of working with a client online so I didn’t respond right away. Evidently Cat took that to mean that I wasn’t home. Mel had softball after school and wouldn’t be home for several hours.
