the only noise. Her head was pounding and there was an acidic fruity taste in her mouth. She pulled back the sheets and saw that she was in her underwear and nothing else. She made her way downstairs and found that Andrew wasn't around. Checking the clock, it was almost noon. Haden made her way to the couch and fell back asl**p. When she woke up, she was still on the couch and Andrew was sitting next to her with a white 'to go' bag of food. It smelled like Chinese and instantly Haden was famished. She sat up and tore into the food like an addict getting a fix. Andrew moved over to a recliner chair and watched her for a few minutes while she stuffed her face. Haden found that there was a large glass of water on the coffee table and she gulped at it. Her headache was mostly gone and the long sl**p had fixed most of the hangover. As the food began to settle, her brain began to function again. She looked up at Andrew, who still hadn't said anything. “I'm so sorry about last night, Andrew. I think those hurricanes just sort of snuck up on me. How do people drink those on a regular basis?” “I don't think they do. I'm trying to find my way here, I'm trying to make friends, have fun. It was easy in Connecticut because we just went to all of your friend's dinner parties and talked about wine and chocolate. Jeff and Nancy would come over for movie nights and we'd go into town to watch a movie. It was easy, I didn't have to think about it.” Haden heard a bit of hysteria in her voice and she f***ed herself to take a breath. Andrew looked like he was afraid of a dog that might bite him. She sighed. “I'm sorry, okay. I'm just adjusting here in my own way. I'm not out of control, I'm just trying to have a little fun. I apologize for last night.” “Do you even remember last night?” Andrew seemed to be going from defensive to angry. “I remember going to the strip club. And Stormy? Was that her name?” “You told her you wanted to be a stripper too. That you liked looking at her and that you wanted men to look at you like that.” His face was turning red and his hands were squeezing the armrest of the recliner. “When we got in the cab -” Andrew stumbled over his own words. “When we ...
