hints and I just sort of ran with it. If it helps, I'll tell them that we cannot do that ever again." "No, Brandon," she said. "I would never tell anyone who they can and cannot see. While it is awkward, to say the least, I'm not going to stop the three of you from anything. It's not like you are in love with them, is it?" "No, Mom, I'm not. I've always had a desire to be with an older woman and we are simply exploring things. After all, I'm not going to be here much longer. I'm no threat to what the three of you have going. And, Mom, I want you to know that whatever you do, however you wish to live your life, you will always have my blessing and support. My only concern is that you are happy." Now the tears came freely for her. "Brandon, you'll never know how much those last few sentences mean to me," she said between sobs. "I was so worried that you would disapprove of what I have been doing these past years. Perhaps your father and I raised you right." I hugged her with all my might and helped to wipe away her tears. "Yes you did, Mom. You and Dad did a pretty good job, if I must say so." I spent the last days of my visit doing some serious catching up with Mom and took her out for some really good dinners. Good food, good friends. It doesn't get any better than this." We had a great time, laughing and eating. We had some mighty fine wine, to borrow a certain song phrase from the 70's. We were all happy. When we finished dessert, Mom got up and announced that she had a taxi coming to take her home. When I protested, she shushed me with a finger to her lips. "No, Brandon, I'm going to go home by myself. I think the three of you need to say some private goodbyes. I'll be fine." I stood and gave Mom a big hug and kiss. It might have been the most unselfish gesture from a most unselfish woman. She always gave me everything I needed to succeed when I was growing up and here she was again, thinking of me. I said goodnight to her and, as she left, I turned to the ladies seated with me and just smiled. "Well, ladies," I said. "To where shall we adjourn this little soiree? Jeri's place, or yours, Brenda?" "Actually Brandon," said Jeri. "Brenda and I have decided that a farewell fitting the three of us wouldn't quite work at either of our places. That's why we pooled our money and booked a King Suite right here at the hotel. The champagne, strawberries and whipped cream have already been ordered and will be chilled and waiting for us as soon as we go up there." Jeri flashed the room keys along with a wicked smile. ...
