    that’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me,” I said squeezing her hand. Riley smiled. “Well, then I guess we’ll just have to spice things up a little for ya” she said sounding mischievous. I stopped the truck beneath the portico of the restaurant and the valet opened Riley’s door. “Welcome to The Overlook ma’am.” he said, taking her hand as she stepped out of the truck. With Riley safely on the walk, he came around to welcome me and take the truck. Large stone pillars supported the timber frame roof above the portico that sheltered the guests during inclement weather. A huge wrought iron chandelier hung overhead giving off a warm glow. Three granite steps led up from the driveway to the entrance where two huge wood doors were framed by stone walls. As we approached, a doorman swung the huge doors open and welcomed us. We entered the restaurant and the Maitre’d stepped out from behind his desk. “Mr. Charles, welcome to The Overlook,” he bowed slightly, “the balcony is open for al fresco dining if you wish.” I was stuck trying to figure out how he knew who I was and I had no idea what al fresco meant, but not wanting to look stupid in front of Riley, I nodded. “Yes, that sounds good,” I replied, hoping I hadn’t just made a huge mistake. “Very good sir, Ma’am. Right this way,” he turned and led us through the dimly lit restaurant and out onto a large balcony with an amazing view of the lake below. We followed him to a secluded table near the railing.     Riley’s chair out and slid it under her as she sat. Every movement he made seemed to have a little extra flourish to it. He opened the menus and handed one to each of us. Leaning down, he used the menu to shield his face, he whispered in my ear. “First date?” I nodded, he nodded back and stood up straight. “Klaus will be right with you. Enjoy your meal and if there is anything you require, don’t hesitate to ask,” he said, bowing slightly before turning to walk away. “Look at that view! It’s gorgeous,” Riley said, staring out at the moon reflecting off the surface of the lake. “Yes, it is,” I agreed, “Almost as beautiful as you,” I added. Riley looked back at me. “Willy, you say the sweetest things to me. You make me feel so good about myself,” she said, reaching across the table to squeeze my hand. “And, you look really good in your church clothes,” she teased. “Welcome to The Overlook, my name is Klaus, I will be your waiter tonight,” Klaus appeared beside the table. He spoke with a vaguely eastern European accent that I couldn’t quite identify. “Would you like to begin with a cocktail or perhaps a bottle of wine?” he asked. “Ah yeah, a bottle of wine, that sounds good,” I answered. I’d never drank wine before, but it seemed the proper thing to do when dining with a beautiful lady at a fine restaurant. “Very good sir.
