Still Spirits

There's a stillness here now breaking, glows through the cloud's dark paths, as a hush falls over our home there are whispers of you in every room, filling the hollows you made in me. I don't know if they're really just in my head, or if the echoes dancing between the walls are beyond understanding. If what makes and sustains them is the same invisible force that draws people together and pulls them apart, like the countless shapes of clouds that break, only to join once more in new forms. I don't think such collisions are an accident, that there are reasons I feel you flowing through my entire being when Spirits streak the skies and unfold as bursts of lightning, spreading through the deafening thunderclaps to remind me Each promise I make is for someone gone, a familiar ghost that only touches when I turn away. There is a stillness here now breaking, glows through the cloud's dark paths, when these hushes would fall over us, I couldn't get close enough to you, because the hollows only vanished when we were one. When lights seemed to throb from above, through the forest surrounding our home. I don't know if such a pulsating shimmer is real, or just our senses swaying to this ancient dance between understanding and desire without abandon. If what makes and sustains us is the overwhelming need drawing us to merge and drift apart, like the earth's unmapped continents when once whole, only to survive and carve identities in new forms. I don't think such power overtakes us by accident, that there are reasons I feel you lacing with my entire being when Spirits streak the skies and unfold as bursts of lightning, spreading through the booming thunderclaps to remind me Each promise I keep is for someone gone, a familiar ghost that only embraces when I turn away.
