That fluttering of wings had never really stopped, and sitting still was not an option. A quick jump into the bathroom and a hasty breakfast later, wrapped in my warmest winter coat, I was wandering the old town part of Füssen with its crooked alleys, archways and little turrets everywhere. Freshly fallen snow had laid a soft coat over everything around me, sparkling prettily in the light and dampening all the sounds. I crossed a small, arched bridge across a frozen brook. Katie was probably already on her way to see the castle, and I could imagine how her eyes would sparkle with excitement at the sight. A warmth spread through my chest and I stood still, small wisps of hitching breath dancing from my lips. It was silly to expect anything more than friendship, but I couldn’t help it. I was falling for her, falling hard and fast, faster than I’d ever done before, and deep inside I knew I couldn’t help but hope I had a chance. I had to try!
