    engulfing him. He saw a flash lighting followed by a clap of thunder and then the familiar pitter-patter of rain drops on the roof. With in a few minutes the light rain and become a torrential down pour. Lighting was flashing and the thunder seemed endless as the storm started gearing up to release its f***e. He went into the kitchen and took out the bread inhaling deeply as he did allowing the scent to fill his lungs. Smiling he put it down to cool as he turned off the crock pot and stirred the stew his mouth watered with the thought of his dinner he would be eating soon. He walked over to his front windows to open them and let in the cool night air when he looked out and saw some headlights heading down the road in front of his house. He guessed they were about a half mile away or so but he kept watching as no one ever came down this road unless it Paul or Grace Glover his neighbors about a mile up the road but he knew they wouldn’t be out in weather like this. He stepped out onto his porch and through the steady rain he saw the headlights seem to swerve one way then the other and then disappear completely. Worried by this he shot back inside and called 911 only to find the phone lines were out. He put on his boots and rain gear grabbed his gun and Duke and jumped in the truck. He drove up his drive way in what was now a driving rain storm turning left back out onto the main road he drove to where he last saw the flicker of the lights as he approached the disabled vehicle ...
    all he could see were tail light that seemed to be in the air, as he got closer he noticed the front end of the car was in the ditch and badly damaged by some rocks that were there. He stopped the truck got out and cautiously approached the car. Tapping on the window while trying to shield himself from the stinging rain all he could make out as a figure slumped over the steering wheel. Knocking again he saw a slow movement, he decided to open the door saying are you ok; I am here to help. He opened the door and d****d the extra coat he brought with him to protect whomever it was from the rain when he noticed it was a woman with long blond hair. Shaking her gently and again asking are you OK, as she moaned giving him a sign of life. He gently laid her back onto her headrest to reveal she had hit her head on the steering wheel and suffered a cut to her forehead. Helping her out of the car she was visibly shaken and weary. He assisted her to his truck as she wobbly stumbled towards it the rain coming down in sheets with flashes of lighting followed by the crash of thunder around them. Once inside his truck he went back and turned off her car and closed the door. He got back into the truck assuring her everything would be okay. She was very groggy as he drove back to his place and turned into the drive. Once at his door he got out and helped her out the other side. Together they made it up the steps to his porch and into his house. Brushing the hair from her face he got his first ...
