He looked crestfallen. Even Rover hung his head in shame at having hurt his mistress. ‘And tomorrow you’ve got to go and see Nurse Gemma,’ she finished. ‘She’s going to give you some advice.’ Kayden was about to object, but then he felt a hunch that it might be fun to see this Nurse Gemma. Katie had brought the blanket from the car for them to sit on. However, as it was a fine, warm summer evening there were a lot of people about – dog walkers, families with children running around, other young couples – so unfortunately it was hard to find a secluded spot for a kiss and a cuddle and, if he was a good dog, for Rover to have some discreet doggy treats. They walked quite a long way, and eventually the sounds of children playing and dogs barking faded. When they reached a little glade Kayden finally stopped.
